My name is Kathy, and I’m a high school student! I volunteer to teach French every Thursday, and I have also participated in past events hosted by the CEFS Centre. I began volunteering this year to be a more active member of my community and contribute to the people, especially immigrant families, around me. I have witnessed a sense of community being promoted through community-wide activities like pumpkin painting, virtual Chinese New Year celebrations, and baking classes that are a spark of hope and joy during this pandemic. While volunteering to teach French, I hope to play a role in a younger generation’s education and learn new things from them simultaneously. So far, volunteering has been an opportunity for me to meet many like-minded people who want to help make a change. I thoroughly have enjoyed and continue to enjoy my time with the CEFS Centre. I look forward to a future alongside them!
